
Why do Sports Performance training?
Hear from our Director of Sports Performance, Grant Johannes:
Grant Johannes (GEA Director of Sports Performance)
In addition to being Gretna Elite Academies Director of Sports Performance, Grant Johannes is currently entering his second year at Iowa Western as Director of Sports Performance after starting in May of 2023. Grant is in charge of all aspects of strength & conditioning for the men’s soccer program and oversees day-to-day training load plans on and off the field, including work in the weight room, on-field movement training, data analysis, and more, aiming to optimize player health and performance.
From 2010-21, Johannes had stints as a strength and conditioning coach with Nebraska Wesleyan University, University of Nebraska, and University of Nebraska-Omaha where he helped plan and implement on-field speed and conditioning training, as well as coach weight room sessions.
Johannes has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Human Performance and a Master’s Degree in Health Science. Johannes is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is a Sports Performance Coach with United States Weightlifting (USAW-L1SP).
