Boys Program Joins ECNL

We are thrilled to announce that Gretna Elite Academy has been invited to compete in the Boys ECNL beginning this coming Fall 2021.

We are ecstatic for our boy’s program, to be now playing in the most prestigious league in the country. We would like to thank and praise Chris Dunford for all his work to elevate the boy’s program. The league will allow our boys to compete in the ECNL Heartland Conference which is a newly formed conference made up of clubs from Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Illinois and Missouri. In addition to the league competition, our players will be presented with access to showcases, events and the best development opportunities for the players and teams involved. This will be massively important as we continue to build on our environment, and put Nebraska players on the map at all levels. The events our program will now have access to are the best in the country; allowing our players to showcase themselves against the best and elevate the image of Nebraska boys soccer.

“Boys soccer in Nebraska has slowly been taking steps forward over the last few years and we ourselves are always looking to develop and be at the forefront of the next step. The merger of our clubs last February was a big step forward followed up with an impressive Fall 2020 State Cup showing across various age groups putting Gretna Elite Academy firmly in position as the place to play for male soccer players. This combined with impressive performances in major events and really strong play in the NPL platform has rightly garnered notice around the State and the region. The news of our acceptance into the Boys ECNL comes at a wonderful time and we have so much to be excited about. This will be a massive positive for our already strong collegiate recruiting platform and will allow our top-level teams to be pushed against some of the region’s best teams in Conference play as well as the nation’s best at ECNL National Showcases. I am incredibly excited for all our male players, coaches and families and am honored that we are part of this wonderful league. The hard work continues and we will embrace all of the challenges ahead.” Chris Dunford- Boy’s Technical Director.

We are very excited to now become the ONLY FULL ECNL member for BOTH the Girls and Boys. This is a huge honor and highlights the excellent work of our staff, players, alumni, and families. We are excited for our boy’s and girl’s programs to align and offer a platform for all levels of play.

To look and see what we’ve achieved over the past 12 months during a pandemic is incredible. We can’t praise our student athletes enough for how they’ve carried themselves during these strange and difficult times. We believe, as a club, this announcement truly highlights our forward-thinking vision for our program and families. We will continue to enhance our environment, by not only prioritizing the highest standards for development, but also empowering players with resources, and an environment to be the best version of themselves as a player and a human being.
